Michael Smith FCIOB   MFPWS

Managing Director

After just six years in the industry, starting on site, Mike founded Corniche in 1983. As MD he puts into practice all the knowledge learned ‘on the job’ initially within family companies, then branching out to other companies to develop and enhance his skills. Thirty five years on and the Company continues to flourish. A member of the Chartered Institute of Builders as Associate in 1984, Corproate Member in 1994, and Fellowship in 2015 and is now in his second term of office as a Trustee.

Mike is a strong believer in taking pride in one’s work, competency, team work and getting the job done to the required standard .

Marc Smith

Commercial Director

Marc joined Corniche in 1991 shortly after completing a joinery apprenticeship where he Qualified at Advanced City and Guilds level. He has stayed at Corniche rising to Foreman, General Foreman, Supervisor and ultimately Commercial Director in 2000.

Marc obtained an NVQ level 7 in Construction Senior Management as well as SMSTS and C&G CAD level 3. He is also our QMark fire door installation Competant Person. Whilst Marc concentrates on mainly Education projects, on which he has vast experience, his overall responsibilities include managing the operations side of the Company, Company growth, Risk Management and Contract Management.

Neil Kelly ACIOB

Site Project Manager

Neil trained as a apprentice carpenter and then foreman at Wates achieving an HNC before a self employed career as a carpenter.  He first worked in that capacity for Corniche in 1992 and finally in 2005 he became a full time employee in the capacity of Site Project Manager.  A valuable asset to the Company, he took his EPA route to obtain his ACIOB and has completed a SMSTS course. Neil is all about quality, following the specification and doing it right.

Anna Bataille

Contract and Business Support

Anna’s Career started at Westminster City Council as a Technical Officer with part time study giving her an HNC. She worked for several Housing Associations and has worked with Occupation Therapists in Residential Care Homes and Clients own Property. She joined Corniche in 2006 for temporary cover as a Contracts Manager and never left. She is now our Contract and Business Support. Anna carries out site set up and on-going co-ordination and support, together with compliance and support to the Directors in delivery of the Business Development Strategy. She carries out Health and Safety Audits and Monitoring.  She has an NVQ Level 6 in Construction Contract Operations and an SMSTS.

Trevor Brown

Site Manager

Trevor joined us this year (2108) as a result of a recruitment drive to increase our management staff. He has a varied and interesting career starting off in Insurance as a Claims Manager. He came into Construction full time in 2007 and has a wealth of experience in high-end residential work, both new build and refurbishment. He has an ethos of working and mentoring at all levels with staff and has a quick grasp of clients visions and requirements. He has an SMSTS  and is working to a NEBOSH certificate.

Chris Smith

Project Supervisor

Whilst Chris is degree qualified it is not in construction but he does have an HNC in Constrction Management. Chris came into the industry after various career paths and has embraced it and is an enthusatic leaner – labourer to Manager in 4 years. He is currently being mentored by Marc into Contracts Managemement He has taken the SMSTS course and is embarking on the CIOB Site Management level 4 qualification.

Ian Maynard

Assistant Site Manager

Ian is a new recruit (2018) to add to our compliment with a striaghtforward career and approach. Ian gained his NVQ2 carpentry and joinery in 1995 after leaving school and has been in construction ever since. He is mostly carpentry based but also has specialism in shuttering. He has all rounb experience in general building from in the ground to the top of the roof. He has worked on many projects over the years ranging from small domestic jobs to large scale residential and civil sites. He has been involved in all aspects of the different trades. He is competent with drawings, planning, man management and an experienced foreman.

John Langford  MCIM

Business Development

John has worked for Corniche since his arrival from South Africa in 1998. Most of his life has been spent in Marketing, Sales and mentoring in various forms with good results. John is responsible for marketing and new clients liaison with relationship building his emphasis rather than cold selling reflecting the ethos of Corniche. He is also our ‘Tweeter’ and ‘Blogger’. John is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
