Michael Smith FCIOB MFPWS
After just six years in the industry, starting on site, Mike founded Corniche in 1983. As MD he puts into practice all the knowledge learned ‘on the job’ initially within family companies, then branching out to other companies to develop and enhance his skills. Thirty five years on and the Company continues to flourish. A member of the Chartered Institute of Builders as Associate in 1984, Corproate Member in 1994, and Fellowship in 2015 and is now in his second term of office as a Trustee.
Mike is a strong believer in taking pride in one’s work, competency, team work and getting the job done to the required standard .
Marc joined Corniche in 1991 shortly after completing a joinery apprenticeship where he Qualified at Advanced City and Guilds level.
He has stayed at Corniche rising to Foreman, General Foreman, Supervisor and ultimately Commercial Director in 2000.
Marc obtained an NVQ level 7 in Construction Senior Management as well as SMSTS and C&G CAD level 3. He is also our QMark fire door installation Competant Person. Whilst Marc concentrates on mainly Education projects, on which he has vast experience, his overall responsibilities include managing the Companies growth, Risk Management and Contract Management.
Neil Kelly ACIOB
Site Project Manager
Neil trained as a apprentice carpenter and then foreman at Wates achieving an HNC before a self employed career as a carpenter. He first worked in that capacity for Corniche in 1992 and finally in 2005 he became a full time employee in the capacity of Site Project Manager. A valuable asset to the Company, he took his EPA route to obtain his ACIOB and has completed a SMSTS course. Neil is all about quality, following the specification and doing it right.
Contract and Business Support
Anna’s Career started at Westminster City Council as a Technical Officer with part time study giving her an HNC. She worked for several Housing Associations and has worked with Occupation Therapists in Residential Care Homes and Clients own Property. She joined Corniche in 2006 for temporary cover as a Contracts Manager and never left. She is now our Contract and Business Support. Anna carries out site set up and on-going co-ordination and support, together with compliance and support to the Directors in delivery of the Business Development Strategy. She carries out Health and Safety Audits and Monitoring. She has an NVQ Level 6 in Construction Contract Operations and an SMSTS.
John started working for Corniche in 2005 as a labourer and is one of our success stories, in that he has risen from there to his current position as a Site Manager, often running several site simultanoeusly. As with allCorniche employees he has sought recognition for his learning and efforts and has achieved an NVQ Level 6 in Construction Contract Operations. John runs all his projects on the same basis: with a firm hand but with a sympathetic understanding of the Client needs.
Gary worked for Corniche some years ago as a tradesman but joined us as a Site Manager in 2014. He has worked for Higgs & Hill as a Trainee Site Engineer and then with a small Building Contractor where he completed his apprenticeship as a bricklayer. He has run general Building projects in addition to sensitive Science Laboratories and Healthcare. His trade background gives him an edge in seeing issues before they happen and remedying in a practical way. He has taken the SMSTS course and is embarking on the NVQ route to Management qualification.
John Langford MCIM
John has worked for Corniche since his arrival from South Africa in 1998. Most of his life has been spent in Marketing, Sales and mentoring in various forms with good results. John is responsible for marketing and new clients liaison with relationship building his emphasis rather than cold selling reflecting the ethos of Corniche. He is also our ‘Tweeter’ and ‘Blogger’. John is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
